A handsome vintage cast iron eagle plaque modeled on the historic emblem of the Insurance Company of North America (INA) ¡ª America's first stock insurance company, chartered in Philadelphia in 1792. A spread-wing federal eagle perches on a bank of clouds, hand-finished in gilt gold against a black ground with verdigris-green accents, the date 1792 cast at the base.

A decorative 20th-century casting in the early-American federal style ¡ª not an 18th-century original. Solid cast iron with genuine age and a warm, worn patina. A natural fit for Americana, coastal New England, and grandmillennial interiors, and a timely accent for summer and Fourth of July styling.

Condition: Good vintage condition with light wear to the painted finish consistent with age and display. Pierced for wall hanging.
